ABOUT
“I believe the world is incomprehensibly beautiful – an endless prospect of magic and wonder.” [Ansel Adams]
My passion for photography began with mischief when, at young age, I would sneak into my parents’ bedroom to steal my father’s camera. I later turned their bathroom into a makeshift darkroom. Needless to say, my mother was less than pleased with the leaky cans of developer chemicals in our fridge!
My earliest compositions were of my humble hometown in Italy.
I was transfixed by the raw beauty and honesty of the world around me.
Passionate about sailing, professional photographers like Franco Pace and Carlo Borlenghi inspired me to take to the seas. I’ll never forget the first time I sold a good shot of a J24 regatta race, even though it was probably below cost!
After completing my university studies, I started my career as a corporate executive in the IT Industry. I shelved my beloved photography equipment to dedicate myself entirely to climbing the corporate ladder. The time will come again, I told myself.
Since 2007, I live and work in Dubai. I travel extensively for business and always seem to run out of time, like everybody in this fascinating and fast-paced city. When I need respite from Dubai’s frenetic pace, I seek out the stillness of its sand dunes.
The lure of the lens proved too much to resist and, recently, I finally resumed my passion for photography. It felt as if the camera had never left my hand. Whenever I can, I board a plane to a far-flung destination, camera in tow, to experiment with landscape shots.
My dream would be to visit Antarctica to capture the extremes of nature: the contrast between moody skies and icy whites, the rough waves against the deep blue of the seas nestled among the icebergs, the desolation and calmness of the place contrasted with the howls of the icy winds.
I shoot mostly with Nikon. When traveling for leisure, I always carry my Fujifilm with me, mainly with a single wide zoom.
